I used to run my fans in my brain.
I had to keep track of what loads, the average moisture, which bin it went in and tried to average all of this stuff in my head. I’d do a lot of scribbling down on paper. Everything was in my head.
Now, it's great. With ACE AIR running the fans it is all good because I can pull up the app, pull up the bin, turn it on, set it for so long. It’s pretty nice.
When we ran our fans before... we’d say, “Did you remember to turn the fan off?”
“Did you turn the fan on?”
“No, I forgot”.
Now with the ACE AIR system, it's, I've got everything under control. I have on at my fingertips and I've already programmed it for the week ahead.
Another cool thing for me... I can watch it from the combine cab, even though I'm not running it. A lot of times I don't, I don't come to the site that day.
I'm in the cab from Sun up till sundown, but I can still get on there and I can tell you how many bushel I sent you and at what percent, and I can see the fans are running.
It's kind of a ease of mind at the end of the day when you get home that it's all good.

Before the Automators were put in, we spent a lot of time driving up and down the road trying to remember to turn on and turn off fans at the right time.
We’d look at equilibrium moisture content and figure out who could turn this fan on and who could remember to shut fans off.
After we put the ACE AIR systems on, we can sit down together, create a prescription and know that they're operating.
In the past I would just turn them on. And because it was easy, I leave them on.
There might be a couple days in that window that weren't fit for drying grain, and I just left the fan on because it was easier.
Now with this system it does it for me. It says, “Hey, it's not gonna be fit to dry.” That's the biggest thing. I'm 45 miles from home base, so, That wasn't feasible. I wanted something like ACE AIR where I could do it from anywhere.
ACE AIR has saved us a lot of time and a lot of money for electric use because we've been able to monitor the system from a distance, and been able to turn the fans on and off only as needed.
We know where we're at as far as grain quality.
We've found out that we've used our fans a lot less this last year because we were able to monitor closer.
How to vet a grain bin monitor?
Avoid “grey box” products and look for lights.
Before, we would watch the weather and run our fans mainly at night. Cool everything down.
And shut'em off in the morning, if we remembered.
And do that the next day...
and the next day.
Now. It does it itself.
Before ACE AIR, we ran fans on a guess.
We knew we had to have air on the bins and so what we would do is try to watch the weather. But, we were running fans entirely too much.
Now we run fans based strictly off ACE AIR. We can hold our phones in our hand, look at the app and say, “Okay, these fans don't need to be running.” Before, we had been wasting a lot of time.
Before the ACE AIR system, we would basically run our fans when we felt it was necessary. Whether we felt the weather was right.
Now, with the ACE AIR system, it takes a lot of the guesswork out of it. And also puts math and actual statistics into it.
We know what kind of air, what kind of moisture we can push into that corn or soybeans to get the result that we want.
